Beloved friends and family,
It has been an exciting and productive two weeks, in which we’ve been able to revisit Cambridge Presbyterian Church, meet up with various friends we’ve not seen in much too long, and begin praying towards next September’s DTS.
The biggest highlight of this fortnight was definitely street evangelism on Saturday morning. We had our neighbours over for Tuesday night Bible study (to which you all have an open invitation!) in the book of Mark. As we looked at the parables of the Lamp on a Stand and the Mustard Seed, and asked God how we could put His Word into practice, Peter felt a nudge to persevere with simple street evangelism. He invited our neighbours to join him on Saturday morning, equipped with gospel bracelets, and in the space of one short but incredibly fruitful hour, three people had prayed salvation prayers! Truly, the Kingdom is growing, much to our joyful amazement! Pray that W—-, one of those who prayed, would accept our invitation to dinner this next week.
Jesus also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.
We have been preparing for our lives to change forever – our baby is due on May 26th! Peter has been working hard towards procuring that elusive and hard-earned document, a driving license, while I have been striking a tenuous balance between energetic ‘nesting’ and exhausted resting. We have also been putting concerted efforts into organising our possessions, accounts and communication. God has been bringing in various bits of baby equipment, and we know He is faithful to provide what we need as we need it – Hallelujah!
Our website is now up and running. In that virtual space, if the fancy takes you, you can read all our past newsletters, peruse Peter’s ponderings and pontifications, subscribe> to Taryn’s fortnightly musical musings, download free music, and connect with YWAM Cambridge. Through the website, we hope to stay better connected with friends and supporters, and also reach out to those who are seeking, thinking, making music, or just surfing the web! Please pray that God will use the website for His glory.
We have heard tantalising snippets of news from our outreach team in Kenya. They have spent the last few weeks amongst some very rural tribes in Kenya, the Pokot people and the Maasai. They are now in the port city of Kisumu. As they have joined the locals in their daily activities, pumping water at the borehole, skinning a goat, or joining in on an impromptu song and dance, they have had many opportunities to share the gospel, and have met with an overwhelmingly positive response. They ran a youth camp to which six hundred children (rather than the four hundred they were expecting) as well as one hundred teenagers turned up, eager to learn about Jesus! The team is definitely running on all cylinders, and the gospel is going forth! Please pray for energy and protection for them, as well as rain for drought-stricken North Kenya.
With Peter signed up to lead the next Revival and Reformation DTS and our little one about to make his/her appearance, the future is full of exciting unknowns. Thank you for your fellowship in the gospel – we couldn’t do this without you!
With much love,
(Peter and) Taryn
